Privacy Notice
Last Updated: 27 January 2026
Introduction
This privacy notice explains how I, Beverley Nolan, collect, use, and protect your personal information when you interact with this website. I am committed to handling your data responsibly and transparently.
I am the data controller for any personal information you provide when you use the contact form, sign up for my newsletter, book workshops, or engage with any other services offered through this website. You can contact me at info@beverleynolan.com
What Information I Collect and Why
The personal information I collect depends on how you choose to interact with this website and my services.
When you contact me through the enquiry form, I collect your name and email address along with any information you choose to include in your message. I use this information solely to respond to your enquiry and provide you with the information or assistance you've requested.
If you sign up for my newsletter, I will collect your name and email address. This allows me to send you updates about new publications, upcoming workshops, and resources related to somatic practices and experiential anatomy. You can unsubscribe from these communications at any time using the link provided in every newsletter email.
When you book a workshop, I need to collect more detailed information to deliver the service properly. This includes your name, email address, and optionally your phone number and postal address if I need to send you materials. I also collect payment information, which is processed securely through Squarespace Payments or Stripe - I never see or store your full payment card details. If you share information about accessibility requirements or special needs, I use this to ensure the workshop environment is suitable for you. I also keep records of workshop attendance and may collect feedback to help me improve future offerings.
In the future, when I launch the membership section of this website, I will collect similar information from members including name, email address, membership preferences, and payment details. This will allow me to provide access to member-only content, process payments, and communicate about membership benefits.
The website also automatically collects some technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, and device information. I use website analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site, which helps me improve navigation and content. This data is typically anonymized and aggregated.
Legal Basis for Processing Your Data
Under data protection law, I must have a lawful basis for processing your personal information. When you book a workshop or purchase a membership, I process your data to fulfil that contract with you. For newsletter communications and marketing updates, I rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. When responding to contact enquiries or improving my website and services, I rely on legitimate interests - my legitimate need to run my business effectively, balanced carefully against your privacy rights.
Who I Share Your Information With
I work with several trusted third-party service providers to help me run this website and deliver services to you, and I may need to share your personal data with them for specific purposes.
For email communications and newsletters, I use Squarespace and Mailchimp, which means your email address and name are stored on their secure servers. When you make a payment for workshops or memberships, your payment information is processed through Squarespace or Stripe - as mentioned, I never see your full card details. The website itself is hosted by Squarespace so they have access to the technical data associated with your visit. If I run online workshops, I may use platforms such as Zoom or similar services, which will process your name and email address to provide you with access to the virtual workshop space. I also use analytics services such as Google Analytics to understand how the website is used.
All of these third-party providers are carefully selected and required to keep your data secure. They can only use your information for the specific purposes I authorise and must comply with data protection law. I will never sell your personal data to anyone, share it for third-party marketing without your explicit consent, or send you spam.
How Long I Keep Your Information
I only keep your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. Information from contact enquiries is kept for two years after our last contact, then securely deleted. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe, after which it is removed within thirty days. For workshop bookings, I need to keep your information for seven years after the workshop takes place - this is a legal requirement for tax and accounting purposes. When the membership feature launches, membership data will similarly be kept for the duration of your membership plus seven years for financial records. Website analytics data is typically retained for twenty-six months following standard Google Analytics retention periods.
If you exercise your right to request deletion of your data, I will delete it promptly unless I have a legal obligation to retain it, such as for tax purposes.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have several important rights regarding your personal information. You have the right to access the personal data I hold about you by requesting a copy. If any information is inaccurate, you can ask me to correct it. You can request that I delete your personal data, though this is subject to any legal obligations I may have to retain it. You can also ask me to restrict how I use your data or to provide it to you in a portable format that you can transfer to another service.
If I'm processing your data based on legitimate interests, you have the right to object to this processing. Where I rely on your consent, such as for newsletter communications, you can withdraw that consent at any time - simply use the unsubscribe link in any email or contact me directly.
To exercise any of these rights, please use the Contact Form and I will respond to your request within one month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. You can contact them through their website at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, call their helpline on 0303 123 1113, or write to them at Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
International Data Transfers
Some of the third-party services I use, such as email platforms or payment processors, may store or process data outside the United Kingdom. When this happens, I ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses approved for international transfers. Your data remains protected to UK GDPR standards regardless of where it is processed, and I only work with service providers who have adequate security measures in place.
Keeping Your Data Secure
I take the security of your personal information seriously and have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it. The website uses a secure SSL/HTTPS connection to encrypt data transmitted between your browser and the server. All systems and databases are password-protected, and I keep software regularly updated with the latest security patches. Access to personal data is strictly limited - only I have access to your information, and I work exclusively with GDPR-compliant service providers. Regular secure backups are maintained to prevent data loss.
However, I must acknowledge that no internet transmission is ever completely secure. While I do everything possible to protect your data, I cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted over the internet.
Children's Privacy
This website and my services are primarily intended for adults I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen without parental or guardian consent. If workshops are suitable for young people under eighteen, parental or guardian consent will be required before booking.
