There is a difference between performing a series of exercises or asanas and moving through an arc of embodied experience. Somatic Movement Sequencing is about learning to design sessions that move participants from intention to integration, from the small to the whole.
WHAT IS THE WEEKEND ABOUT? This a practical weekend to explore the principles of somatic sequencing: intention, attention, arc, and integration. There are pre-made sequences to try and ideas and themes to spark your own design whether you're working with a group class, a one-to-one client, or in your own movement practice.
Drawn from somatic movement education traditions including IBMT, Body-Mind Centering®, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and Laban Movement Analysis practices. The weekend is practical, experiential, and immediately applicable to your work.
WHAT WILL YOU EXPLORE? We will unpack the theory around somatic sequencing to identify a tried and trusted framework:
unpacking the principles of support before movement, ground to makes space, yield/push>reach/pull
examining movement initiation and pathways
starting close-in and expanding through the whole
moving from the clarity of intention to a session structure
balancing a structured content arc with invitational space.
IS THIS WEEKEND FOR YOU? Somatic Movement Sequencing is designed for movement professionals who are already teaching or facilitating movement sessions in some form.
It is most relevant to:
Yoga, Pilates, and somatic movement teachers
Dance and movement facilitators
Somatic counsellors, coaches, and somatic therapists.
PREPARATION Participants are asked to complete approximately 2–3 hours of pre-course reading, provided in advance via our Google Classroom.
Early Bird fees before 31 December £375, then £420.
Payment plan also available on all bookings made prior 31 December. See Ts&Cs.
